A week ago, we visited the Wild Wadi WaterparkTM  to experience a day in the life of a professional flowboarder.

For those of you who don’t know, flowboard is a surf like sport, in which basically you surf on artificial waves.

Under the supervision of the professional flowboarder Alfian Affandi, we were introduced to the technical aspects of flow surf.

Alfian is a professional flowboarder, sponsored by Billabong, with numerous achievements in his biography.

Mostly, he is quite remarkable for being the first Asian flowboarder to be sponsored.

Except participating in international contests, Alfian is also “wave manager”, coaching flowboard enthusiasts all over the world.

The experience was exceptional, with high levels of adrenaline and a huge effort to balance yourself and stay steady on the board without make others laugh (the last one was not successful).

In the highlights was of course the free pass to Wild Wadi WaterparkTM  for the rest of the day!

Wild Wadi WaterparkTM is conveniently located on Jumeirah Beach Road and it offers breath-taking views of Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Madinat Jumeirah.

With over 30 rides and attractions, we had plenty of choices to choose and endless fun.

Don’t forget to visit the exciting Tantrum Alley and the Burj Surj with your whole family, and the Flood River for unceasing relaxation.Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 8.42.39 PM

For the bravest, Jumeirah Sceirah offers the ultimate adrenaline rush, with a race down the slide at 80km per hour!!Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 8.42.28 PM

After long hours of fun, you can enjoy a well-deserved meal at one of the many restaurants included in the theme park.

We don’t know about you, but Dubai Cat seemed to enjoy herself at Wild Wadi WaterparkTM, even if she rode a camel instead of the waves XD.

Morning Swimming Session with Olympic Athlete Stephanie Proud

Coming from a family who loves swimming, Stephanie couldn’t run away from this.

She started swimming at the early age of 3 although she thinks that she should have started even earlier.

Olympic Swimmer, beautiful girl full of life and Speedo’s International Brand Ambassador are some of the phrases someone would use to describe her.

Fastskin LZR Racer X - Campaign_Elizabeth_Beisel (High Rez)

She started competing when she was 9 years old. Her first major competition was for the Great Britain junior team when she was 12, this lead to many international meets and 9 medals at the European Junior championships. Stephanie’s senior team accomplishments include 2010 Commonwealth Games finalist and 2011 World Championships semifinalist. Stephanie also competed in the 2009 World University Games in Belgrade where she won the gold medal.

At the age of 18, Stephanie moved to the United States where she trained at the University of Florida for the 2012 London Olympics, at which she proudly achieved 9th place in front of a home crowd.

Somewhere between her preparations for Rio’s Olympic Games for 2016 she made a quick stop to Dubai and gave a swimming session to a number of Editors and Bloggers who love sports.

Her guidance and patience made us all glad for waking up so early to go meet her!

The swimming session ended with an amazing and super healthy breakfast at Talise Fitness Center Coffee Shop. Highly recommended!

Gisella by Nana – A beautiful fashion moment in the heart of Dubai

On the 3rd of November I found myself in the heart of Dubai, at the beautiful Fortnum & Mason in Dubai Mall, where the Co-Founder and Creative Director of British luxury fashion label “Gisella by Nana” Ms. Nana Agyeman Ennuson invited us for the launch of the new collection.
The carefully selected models, showcased a collection inspired by the designer’s African roots and her life in UK.
Soft, aerial fabrics, feminine yet elegants lines for women who are ready to make a statement in every appearance they make.
Enjoy a small video as well as some of my favorite garments from the collection.

Dubai Watch Week

A week ago, Dubai Watch Week event open its doors to the public. DubaiCat was kind enough to secure us a place for the watchmaking session by Peter Speake-Marin (www.speake-marin.com).

Under the supervision of top-class watchmakers, we were introduced to mechanical watches, and we’ve gained hands-on experience in assembling mechanisms.

As part of the event there was also an exhibition with some of the most creative, independent watch manufactures such as MB&F, Hautlence, Cabestan and Bovet, to name a few. During our time there, we met watch enthusiasts, collectors, famous bloggers and we engaged with key contributors of the watch industry.

Space Pirate
MB&F, HM6 ‘Space Pirate’ inspired by the unknown environment of space.
MB&F, HM5 ‘on the road again’ inspired by supercars of 1970’s.
Cabestan, ‘Luna Nera’ inspired by the moon phases.

Luckily enough, we had the opportunity to try on our wrists some of the most expensive and rare watches on the market, and experience the results of complexity combined with creativity.

Dubai watch week has come to an end, and we hope to see more events like this in the future.
