BurJuman Celebrates Shoes And Their March Through Time!
November sees the Mall taken over by all things shoe-related!
Put your best foot forward, a spring in your step and head down to BurJuman this November where, the humble SHOE, in all its glory will be celebrated.
During the month of November, BurJuman Centre offers fashionistas and shoppers alike the opportunity to be part of its Shoe Crush events. A number of exhibits and installations, along with some vibrant live dance performances, will highlight the huge impact that shoes have made and continue to make throughout the decades of the 20th and 21st centuries, as well as their general influence on the evolution of fashion trends and styles.
Watch out for The Shoe Show Exhibition being organised in partnership with the Virtual Shoe Museum from Holland. This retrospective, will feature an exclusive collection of rare footwear creations by internationally renowned designers, architects and artists, ranging from futuristic boots to jewel encrusted shoes. Marvel at the spectacle of six pairs of freestanding giant shoes, which all stand over 1.5 metres high. Be entertained every weekend in the Pavilion Garden and throughout the Mall by Irish and Vintage Tap dancers respectively. And finally, participate in the weekend raffles whereby when you spend AED 300 or more, you stand the chance to enter a prize draw to win AED 40,000 weekly. And double your chances of winning by shopping at any fashion store and receive two vouchers instead of one!
A big thank you to Ela Eldem, Marketing Director of BurJuman Centre for the private tour she offered me and DubaiLoving!
On the 3rd of November I found myself in the heart of Dubai, at the beautiful Fortnum & Mason in Dubai Mall, where the Co-Founder and Creative Director of British luxury fashion label “Gisella by Nana” Ms. Nana Agyeman Ennuson invited us for the launch of the new collection.
The carefully selected models, showcased a collection inspired by the designer’s African roots and her life in UK.
Soft, aerial fabrics, feminine yet elegants lines for women who are ready to make a statement in every appearance they make.
Enjoy a small video as well as some of my favorite garments from the collection.
A week ago, Dubai Watch Week event open its doors to the public. DubaiCat was kind enough to secure us a place for the watchmaking session by Peter Speake-Marin (www.speake-marin.com).
Under the supervision of top-class watchmakers, we were introduced to mechanical watches, and we’ve gained hands-on experience in assembling mechanisms.
As part of the event there was also an exhibition with some of the most creative, independent watch manufactures such as MB&F, Hautlence, Cabestan and Bovet, to name a few. During our time there, we met watch enthusiasts, collectors, famous bloggers and we engaged with key contributors of the watch industry.
Luckily enough, we had the opportunity to try on our wrists some of the most expensive and rare watches on the market, and experience the results of complexity combined with creativity.
Dubai watch week has come to an end, and we hope to see more events like this in the future.

Since its inception in 2007, Dubai Cares has changed the lives of more than 13 million children in 39 developing countries around the world. Built on the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Cares believes that education is one of the most effective tools to break the cycle of poverty.
Dubai Cares started this exciting social media campaign called – #IsFor. It drives the creation of the first ABC Book with the support of the UAE community. They encourage everyone to post photographs of objects whose words start with each letter of the alphabet, such as an image of an apple and a description “A #IsFor Apple” or an image of a bike “B is for Bike” or a picture of a train “T #IsFor Train”. In the book, we’ll feature many of the images and use the profile pictures and usernames of the users who shared them. We will distribute the book in English, Arabic and French in our beneficiary countries.
Post your photos now and help give the gift of education to children around the world.
